Armour Plated Soul

from Bare Bones - Acoustic by Steven Faulkner

/

about

A song about getting older and realising you've not achieved anything.....yet!

lyrics

Yeah I’m wasting away and all I’ve got to say
Is it’s lovely to see you.
If I look in the mirror would I not appear to be older & greyer

It only feels like a minute ago
I was ready to take on the world.
But time it never slows for the grind
An I find that my fortune’s already been sold

I’ve never been one to sit and admit
that I’m fortunate to still be here.
I’ll keep trudging along and keep singing my songs
’til the sound of the gong.

It only feels like a minute ago
I was ready to take on the world.
I fought and I lost
But to no other cost
Than an armour plate for my soul

Now I’m here at the peak and there’s nothing to speak of
That I have achieved yeah.
Now running downhill, head-first for the thrill
‘Cos there’s nothing lose yeah

It only feels like a minute ago
I was ready to take on the world.
It’s a world that is cursed
And it’s people perverse
So if it’s ok with you I’ll just leave yeah
